East Bay Hand and Upper Extremity treats the full range of hand, wrist, and upper-extremity conditions, from the everyday to the complex. Jump to an area below, or read the full list and the treatment each area leads to.

Nerve conditions

  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Cubital tunnel syndrome
  • Nerve entrapments
  • Peripheral nerve injuries
  • Median nerve compression

Bone & joint conditions

  • Arthritis
  • Wrist fractures
  • Finger fractures
  • Wrist sprains
  • Dislocations
  • Joint instabilities

Soft-tissue conditions

  • Tendon injuries
  • Ligament injuries and sprains
  • Tumors of the hand and upper extremity
  • Soft-tissue reconstruction

Work & overuse injuries

  • Repetitive stress injuries (RSI)
  • Low-energy cumulative trauma (CTD)
  • Industrial injuries
  • Workplace and repetitive strain injuries

Most of these conditions map to one of Dr. Chin's core treatments. Nerve compression and entrapment, from carpal tunnel to cubital tunnel, are addressed through endoscopic carpal tunnel and peripheral nerve surgery. Tumors, tendon and ligament injuries, and nerve reconstruction fall under soft tissue reconstruction and peripheral neurosurgery. Fractures, arthritis, and joint problems are treated with orthopedics and arthroscopy. Work and overuse injuries often draw on more than one of these approaches.

Not sure which one is yours?

You do not need a diagnosis to book. Describe what you are feeling, whether it is numbness, weakness, a dull ache, stiffness, or an injury that has not healed, and Dr. Chin will examine your hand and tell you what is going on. Many of these conditions share symptoms, which is exactly why an expert evaluation matters.
